Summer Show and Tour Auditions!

The Flatwater Shakespeare Company is holding auditions for The Comedy of Errors, performing in the Lincoln Parks this summer! Come try out for a fantastic work, especially as directed by Bob Hall.

AUDITION DATE: SAT. MARCH 22, 1-5 PM 

LOCATION: LINCOLN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION BLDG. 

15TH AND N STREETS (SOUTH WEST CORNER)

PRODUCTION DATES: June 12 – July 6. Performances in various open air spaces, Thursday through Sundays, except the last week when the dates are: Wed., July 2; Thurs., July 3; Sat., July 5; and Sun. July 6.

DIRECTOR: Bob Hall

All performances at 7:00 PM.

Rehearsals begin the last week of April.

Roles for 18 actors plus a musician who can play folk-style guitar or banjo.

Musical talent is not required but some roles could be doubled as musicians (portable stringed instruments, harmonica etc.) and singers if those skills are available. If that describes you, put the information on your sign-up sheet and resume.

All actors will help with set up and strike starting at 5:30 on days of performance and ending when the truck is loaded and the grounds are clean – usually by 10:00 PM.

Actors will receive performance pay of $100 a week for the four weeks of performances.

The play will be set in Gold Rush California. Age ranges are adaptable. Some casting will be nontraditional: roles will be assigned without regard to race and some may be assigned without regard to gender. The age range goes from late teens on up to infinity.

Please bring a resume and head shot. Head shot can be self-taken. The resume need not be extensive; you will be cast only on the basis of your audition.

If you have been in more than one Flatwater Shakespeare show you may email in advance to see if an open-call audition is needed. However, all are welcome at auditions.

Auditions are first come, first served. Be prepared to be available for at least 90 minutes after you sign in.

AUDITION OPTIONS: 

1. If you can, bring one or two brief memorized Shakespearean monologues. Preferably, but not necessarily, from a comedy.

2. If you don’t have time to thoroughly memorize, it’s better to work on the meaning of a selection and simply read it. There is no penalty for going this route.

3. We can assign you a piece from The Comedy of Errors to read when you arrive.
