News About Our Summer Youth Program!
Hello parents and youth!
My name is Tom Crew and I am going to be directing this year's Flatwater Shakespeare's youth production of The Taming of the Shrew.
For those that do not know me, I have been a long time actor with Flatwater Shakespeare (I have done 14 shows), and I was the original Youth Director, having done 7 youth productions in the past.
I am VERY excited to be taking this position again. I want to be as available to questions that any of you may have, as I want the path we take from here on out to be clear and transparent. My email is crewthomas@gmail.com.
I wanted to give you some information on the upcoming show.
Auditions:
Sunday April 24 at 2 pm, The Stables at Wyuka Cemetery (3600 O Street). If your student cannot make that time, no problem. I can arrange a separate time and date.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will start as Sunday afternoons beginning May 1st. Starting on May 21 we will then go to Saturdays, with an occasional Sunday rehearsals as well. We will rehearse at local parks or actually in the common area where I have my house (43rd and Old Cheney). Tech rehearsals will either be the evenings of July 12 & 13 or July 13 & 14.
Performance:
We will perform the show at Roberts Park, July 14 and 15 (pending approval from Lincoln Parks and Recreation). Alternative dates are July 15 & 16.
Program Fees:
There will be a $50 program fee if selected for the production. This fee will be used for costs such as props, costumes, and a t-shirt for each student. Flatwater Shakespeare has a limited number of scholarships available for anyone who is unable to pay this fee. We don't someone to not be involved solely because of cost.
For more information about Flatwater Shakespeare Company, visit www.flatwatershakespearecompany.org.
I know that there are already probably a lot of questions, so if you email me any of them, I can share the response with the entire group.
Thanks so much for any interest you may have. It's going to be a super fun show!
