Flatwater Shakespeare's *Cyrano* at the Haymarket Theatre October 11-21!
In
17th-century France, one man can claim to be the greatest swordsman,
to write the wittiest and finest poetry, and to have the largest
nose. Cyrano is also the most devoted of lovers, but feels he must
hide that fact from the woman he loves.
The
Flatwater Shakespeare Company will stage Cyrano de Bergerac,
Edmond Rostand's classic romance, October 11-14
and 18-21,
at the Haymarket Theatre, 803 “Q” Street in Lincoln. Show times
are 7:30 on Thursday through Saturday evenings and 2:00 on Sunday
afternoons. General Tickets are $15, Students and Seniors $10. Call
402-473-2897
for reservations.
Directed and
designed by Bob Hall, the Flatwater Shakespeare production of Cyrano features some of Lincoln's most inspiring performers.
Vince Learned, who has recently portrayed both Don Quixote and Mark
Antony, plays the legendary Cyrano. Amy Jirsa, the poignant
Desdemona of last year's Othello, plays Roxane, the woman who
has captured his heart.
Nathan Weiss plays
Christian, the doomed young soldier who wins the love of Roxane with
the help of Cyrano's enchanting language. And David Landis returns
to Flatwater Shakespeare in the role of the Count De Guiche, Cyrano's
aristocratic rival.
Bringing
to life Rostand's mix of boisterous humor, intense action, brilliant
wordplay, court intrigue, and romantic longing is an ensemble
consisting of Flatwater Shakespeare veterans Paden Alexander, Darin
Hemmer, Lindsey Peters, and Margy Ryan, along with newcomers James
Palagi and Kat Palagi.
The
creative team includes Kat Cover, costumes; Mark Mesarch, lighting;
John Marinovich, fight choreographer; Richard Imig, set construction;
Deb Waechter, stage manager; Michelle Zinke, associate stage manager; and Stephen Buhler, dramaturg.
Join
Cyrano in his gallant quest “To sing, to laugh, to dream” . . .
of honor, intelligence, bravery, sacrifice, and love.
