Further Details about our 2019 Season!

Flatwater Shakespeare Company's 2019 Season combines comedy and tragedy, love and murder, a bit with a dog and a porter at the gate – all brought to the stage by accomplished directors.

The season begins with a hilarious romp through the Bard's entire canon, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield. Three ingenious actors will play every last role, as the script both pays tribute to Shakespeare and makes affectionate fun at his (and our) expense. The show will be directed by Paul Durban and performed at a new venue for FSC, The Mill at Nebraska Innovation Campus, March 14-17 and March 21-24.

FSC's summer “Short Shakespeare” show will be The Two Gentlemen of Verona. There's a love quadrangle with Proteus and Valentine and Sylvia and Julia. There's the wise-cracking servant Launce and his dog Crab. There's also a band of outlaws. A seventy-five minute version of Shakespeare's first romantic comedy will be directed by Patsy Koch-Johns. On June 6-9 and June 13-16, the play will be presented at the Swan Theatre in The Stables at Wyuka. On June 20-23, the company will visit Lincoln parks and other outdoor venues for this year's Flatwater FREE Shakespeare tour, providing a perfect family experience of live theater.

The season concludes with William Shakespeare's Macbeth. With warfare, witchcraft, brutal ambition, guilty consciences, and unintended consequences, the play is one of the clearest inspirations for Game of Thrones. This haunting meditation on power's seductive attractions and corrosive effects will be directed by FSC's Founding Artistic Director, Bob Hall. Performances will be September 26-29, October 3-6, and October 10-13 at the Swan Theatre in The Stables at Wyuka.

2019 Season Auditions will take place January 13 and 14 with callbacks for specific shows to be announced later.

FSC Executive Director Summer Lukasiewicz is proud of the line-up. "We have new venues, new collaborations, and directors who are new to Flatwater in 2019,” Lukasiewicz says. “We are spreading our wings, but we are also staying connected to our roots of high quality theatre – including a full-length Shakespearean tragedy at the Stables at Wyuka with Bob Hall at the helm. This is an exciting season of growth as we continue to broaden our reach and strive to make Shakespeare for Everyone!"

FSC season tickets are also available for 2019, offering a 10% discount from full ticket prices. $52 purchases three admissions, one for each production – just let the box office know ahead of time which performances you'd like to see and bring the season pass with you to the shows.
